3 quick ways to clear your energy in public spaces

Hey all! Today, I'll be talking about a few easy ways to get a quick self-cleanse in while going about your daily tasks. You can do these at work, in the middle of the city, or at the gas station you stopped at to grab a quick snack in between working hours. The best part about it is: No One will know! Let's get to it.

  1. We all know what the phrase "Go outside and touch some grass" means these days, right? I'm here to tell you to *literally* go outside and touch some grass. Grounding is one of the best things we can do for ourselves as we bob and weave through the energy trails and emotions of others. Taking a moment to step outside and plant your feet in the ground works wonders on the soul. That being said, I know one can't always just stop what they're doing and step outside. The workspace, taking care of children and other activities don't necessarily allow for a sudden 'drop what you're doing' moment. If in a workspace, look around for any plants that may be resting in windowsills or on desks. Touching a plant and using its energy to clear your own is 100 percent a thing! I know it sounds ridiculous, but most plants are here to help us out. If you don't have a plant, water will work as well.

  2. Water. We drink it, we bathe in it, it smacks us directly in the eyes during a heavy storm, etc. So, how can it help you cleanse all of that ick off of your body after a long day, or during one? Easy, take a restroom break and wash your face! After splashing water on your face, move both hands in a downward direction and 'throw' that excess energy into the ground. Run your hands down either arm, like you're wiping something off of you. Most cleansings only require that you actively choose not to hold onto the energy that isn't your own. If you're at home, hop into a shower or bath and take some cleansing herbs with you. Peppermint and Eucalyptus work wonders for me, but not everyone has a good reaction to eucalyptus, so experiment with your oils and herbs to find what works best for you. If you're a kitchen witch: Boil some water in a pot and throw your favorite cleansing herbs/spices in it and allow the steam to fill the air as you cleanse not only yourself, but your home. Water, like a good portion of the American population, goes with the flow. It is a powerful ally to have in times of great need and is a pro at creating new pathways of energy and movement. It is calming and wise, older than man. Use it to your advantage!

  3. Veil, veil, veil! The act of veiling has been around since 1100 BC. I would suggest first that you do your research and take note of who the act of veiling comes from before going wild with it. Veiling is a wonderful way to protect your energy when out in the world. I personally use a black veil, whereas I have a friend who uses Their own white veil due to the nature of Their practice (Santeria). When veiling, and choosing your head wrap, be mindful of the cultures who first began this tradition and be mindful of those who still do. Even this act, as small as it may seem to you in the moment, has history with many varied cultures. Speaking to my Caucasian crowd here, simply be mindful of HOW you choose to wrap your head. Some ways represent historical remembrance, others represent religious rite. My own veil tends to get braided and flows down my back when I wear it.

There are so many ways to cleanse the mind, body and soul before, during and after a long day but these three I have found to be the most effective when out on a busy day. You may find other ways that work for you, and that's okay! I'm here to lend suggestions as we go out and about in this life. It's up to you how to use them or IF you even will. Say it with me: My practice is my own. Harm none but take no shit. If you have a way of veiling or cleansing that you find works best for you, leave a comment below and let me see those practices! Leave tips for others who may cross this page! Show others and be proud of what you do.
